History of Havenstreet station
Opened in 1875: Havenstreet station was established as an intermediate stop on the Ryde and Newport Railway, Isle of Wight Central Railway, Southern Railway, and British Rail, renamed Havenstreet in 1958.
Closed in 1966: The station closed on 21 February 1966 but reopened as the headquarters of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in 1971.
Reopened as Isle of Wight Steam Railway: The station was reopened as part of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which operates steam-hauled trains through the village.
Grade II Listed: In September 2025, Havenstreet station was one of seven railway-associated buildings listed as Grade II for its architectural and historic interest.
Historic Features: The station building incorporates a combined signal box and booking office, an adjoining waiting room, and passenger facilities.
